The Discovery Garden

The Discovery Garden
This was a new one. I guess a daylily
But where did this color come from?

This year has definitely been a discovery garden at my house.
The mild and rainy weather has brought up all kinds of things from the ground that to my knowledge I never planted.
So nearly every day I can go out and discover something new . Usually it is  a flower that I hadn't seen before.

This is one that comes up every year and no one yet knows just what it is.
I guess a verbena of some kind. I certainly didn't plant it.

Where did it come from? Is it an old seed that has been buried all these previous years? Is it a weed that has blown in? Did a bird or wild animal drop it in passing? Whatever is it?

This I was convinced was a weed as it was everywhere.
I'm so glad I let it grow.

And so I start out the performance of discovery. Maybe a friend will know? Maybe I can find a photo on the internet? Shall I let it continue to grow? Is it a weed that will become invasive and spread?

Here's another close up
Thanks to Mike for all the good photos.

It certainly keeps me busy and makes life in the garden very interesting.
I just wish I could remember all the names of the plants when I eventually discover what they are!!
