Half Broke Horses by Jeanette Walls
This is considered a true-life novel in that it tells the story of Lily Casey and her life as she grows up in the
1920s and 1930s in a pioneering home in the west. She at first lives in a sod home on the prairie and helps her father with care of the farm and horses, She is a natural.
The story continues through her travels, at first with her family and then on to Chicago, where she has a bad marriage.
This changes her attitude towards life and she becomes a teacher and then pilot; a person with her own mind and way of doing things and living life .
Eventually, she gets married and has children but her adventures continued.
What an adventurous and interesting life this incredible lady lived.!
An interesting and often amazing story of a woman who knew what she wanted and worked hard to get it.
It is based on the life of the author's grandmother.
