Trip to Canada - crossing the border.
Here are some photos of the crossing.
When we drive to Canada, we either cross the border at Fort Erie or at Lake Huron. This year we decided to take the Northern crossing both ways.
We stayed overnight on the American side in Port Huron, at a very modern, new Holiday Inn Express and spent a lovely evening sitting on the spacious patio right on the St Clair river inlet. Flocks of birds were also enjoying the warm evening. It was very pleasant.
The following morning we spent some time walking along the boardwalk, enjoying the sun and watching the large freighters traveling from Lake Michigan down the river to Lake Huron and then probably on to Detroit or even further. These freighters are HUGE.
Then on with the journey, first crossing the border across the bridge and into Canada. We still had lots of driving to do. We did wonder why both flags were flying at half-mast but never found out and didn't notice this anywhere in the USA when we had crossed over.So it is still a mystery.
