One of the favorite things about Christmas when we were young in the 40s and 50s was getting a new book for Christmas. Presents were simpler then.
The favorite gift was often a Christmas Album. There were all kinds of Albums being produced every year; The Beano Album, Rupert the Bear Album,The Eagle Annual to name a few. The Daily Mail Annual was a favorite.
In it you would find interesting stories.Information About trains or the circus or horses. Also there would be lots of pictures and comics and always puzzles and fun stuff to do.
