Carry Me by Peter Behrens
If you like stories about modern history , this one about the two world wars with episodes in the Isle of Wight, Germany including Frankfurt and Berlin, Ireland, USA and Texas and all combined with a never- ending love story , you will want to read this novel.
It is very well written by an excellent Canadian author and covers the story of young Billy, who at a very early age is captivated by Karin, the daughter of his father’s employer, who is a German-Jewish industrialist and wealthy Baron.
It tells the story of their meetings throughout the two World Wars, the conflicts they and their families endure, and later the fulfillment of their early dream in the wilderness of Texas.
The tale is not written in a set chronological manner but skips back and forth through time.
This was the only thing that I did not like about the book but the story keeps you reading until the end and certainly held my interest.
