The surprise fruit ..

The surprise fruit that grew and grew and grew

Here it is !!

I bought a pot of geraniums in the Spring and little did I know that hiding in the pot was a cantaloupe seed.
I never noticed it until it was about well on it's way to being a plant. So I thought easier to let it grow rather than pull it out.

You can see how small it is.

 It continued to grow,  eventually forming a vine over the ground, mixing in with the zinnias  and eventually a small cantaloupe formed about the size of a large  baseball.

I really didn't expect that it would be big enough to eat but you know it was and it had the best taste ever!!
