Fool Me Once by Harlan Coben
This is an author who has written many mystery novels. They are usually intriguing books, with many twists and turns to make a really interesting plot which keeps you guessing up to the very end.
This was no exception.
Maya, a helicopter gun pilot has returned from a tour of duty back home to her wealthy husband and 2-year-old daughter. She has made a bad error in judgment during her tour and is suffering from flashbacks and bad dreams and pain from her failure.
Shortly after her sister and her husband are both murdered. She is in a bad way and it gets even worse. As she checks her video baby monitor to see how her daughter has been behaving with her babysitter, she sees a man sitting on the couch playing with her daughter. The man looks familiar and she cannot believe it, as it is her husband Jo, who she has just buried in his grave.
What is going on?
A very complicated story begins with lots of leads to follow and Maya is determined to get to the truth.
I don't think this was one of Harlan Coben's better books as it seemed unbelievable at times. It also has a very complex plot to follow. It has quite an unexpected ending so if you start reading, be sure to read to the very end to solve the mystery.
