The Girls in the Garden by Lisa Jewell

The Girls in the Garden  by Lisa Jewell

This is a modern novel of 2 families with teenage daughters that live in a  modern development in London. Both families have different lifestyles but what brings them together is the communal garden/park by their homes.

One family has been living their carefree lifestyle in the neighborhood for generations and the other has just moved in after a sad family situation.
The children of the two families plus a few other children gradually gravitate together and spend a lot of time at each other's homes and playing and meeting in the garden.

Then one of the girls is attacked in the park and falls into a coma.
The mystery is- who did this? and why has it happened?
An interesting book to read and will leave you guessing the answer until the very end of the book.

Sole Survivor by Dean Koontz

This is a book I have had on by bookshelf for quite some time and eventually I got around to reading it.
We have had some really hot weather here lately- reading is a cool pastime!

Now that Fall is here, I'll be doing other things again.
Joe Carpenter , the main character of the book, is living through a nightmare. His wife and 2 children have died very suddenly in catastrophic , unexplainable nightmare when the plane they were on, crashed. Joe is devastated and his life is falling apart.
On a visit to his family's grave the following year, he sees a woman taking pictures of the grave but before he can really talk with her, shots are fired at them and the woman runs away.
He seeks her out and establishes that she is saying she  was on the plane that crashed but from the information he has, was that there were NO survivors.
He is determined to talk to this woman again remembering that someone is targeting her and he needs to know why. Maybe just, maybe his family also survived.

He finds out that he too is being followed and so the tale begins. It has a surprising ending and somewhat far-fetched. It goes into the realms of unexplainable scientific findings and  the creation of intelligence.
Interesting , somewhat technical but very suspenseful especially towards the climax of the book.

She's Not There by Joy Fielding

A young family, Mom , Dad and their two young daughters  go on a trip to a resort in Mexico. This is supposed to be a relaxing trip and it is until  the mom goes back to their bedroom and find to her horror, her baby daughter Samantha has gone. Panic immediately  sets in and the mystery begins.
The mystery  of Samantha's disappearance continues for 15 years until one day a girl turns us at the Mom's door and says she  thinks she is the missing Samantha. But is she?

An intriguing mystery with lots of twist and turns. A mystery that will hold you tight and keeps you reading  until the surprising ending.
