How Many Goslings? a challenge painting

How Many Goslings? a challenge painting
"How many Goslings?"
watercolor 8"x12"

This month's painting.  Canadian Geese Family

"Paint and draw together" is another challenge painting that I try to paint each month. The paintings all appear during a time period which is usually about 4-6 weeks on  given dates.

The administrator of the page sets the topic which is usually a photo and leads the artists to use the photo as a starting point to paint. It can be a copy or adapted in some way and in any medium. If you look at the blog at  you can see what I mean.
http://paintanddrawtogether.blogspot.com/
The artists come from many countries and the styles are very varied and different.
I find it very interesting not only to see what I can paint but to see the variety of paintings. There are some excellent artists that try this challenge.
Here is the original photo that was set as a challenge.

Challenge Painting- RUBY

"RUBY " challenge painting for JULY
watercolor
This was a challenge for the facebook page Monthly Painters Challenge.
The topic picked by last month's winning artist was Ruby and all artists painted  what they thought the topic should be.
This month there were many great paintings .
I painted a stylized version of a ruby red rose, keeping it very simple in order to concentrate on the bright color.

Here are some of the other paintings. The artist(s) who collect the most likes usually get to select the next topic to paint . This is a fun challenge to belong to. If you like to paint  you should join.

Purple Rain

Purple Rain
"Purple Rain"   acrylic 11" x14"

The challenge for May for Monthly Artist Challenge on Facebook was "Purple Rain". I knew this was a response to the musician Prince's" sudden death and was the title of his most popular song. I am not familiar with this song or really the music of this artist so I  depicted a  very literal meaning of the title.
This page is to sponsor creativity  and each artist responds in any way they wish.
I decided to paint a small child playing in a rain puddle, based on a lovely photo taken by Mike a while back. Any small child is enchanted by rain puddles and will play in them no matter what color !

Painting- Lamp and Birds

Painting- Lamp and Birds
Watercolor- 8"x12"

This is the December/January painting for the challenge group, Monthly Painters Challenge on Facebook
A photo of the lamp was given and then the artists could include anything else in the study. It was quite difficult to do especially the shadows from the birds.

San Antonio at Christmas Time

SanAntonio River Walk at Christmas Time.
Acrylic  20" x 16"

San Antonio at Christmas Time- no we didn't go there -but many people did, as we read that 250,000 people visited there during the festive season.

We have been many times and it is one of the best places to visit in Texas. The river walk is one of our favorite places.

I painted this painting for my monthly painters challenge group on Facebook( check it out and the other paintings as well )-  the topic given was "Festive"- and for sure there certainly isn't a more festive place than San Antonio at that time of the year.
