If you love British history and dramatic, colorful stories of the English monarchy, you will probably watch the TV series, "Victoria" on Masterpiece Theater on PBS.
Daisy Goodwin is the creator and screenwriter of this series and she is also the author of the companion book.
I watched the TV series first which I found fascinating as I don't remember knowing much about the queen's early life and how she came to the throne or her marriage to Albert.
This book explores more details of the queen's personality and character and is based partially on information from Victoria's own diaries. The book finishes with the marriage of Victoria to Albert where as the TV series continues further. The subplot of the "life of the servants " is not given much attention but more is written of the mutual attraction of Victoria and Melbourne.
I enjoyed both the series and the book and would certainly recommend both.
